The Stanford Terrace Inn is conveniently located close to Stanford University on line A of the Marguerite shuttle route, a free shuttle operated by Stanford University. Other hotels are also reachable via the Marguerite. To get to the Clark Center with the "A" Marguerite Shuttle line, get off at the Via Ortega stop and walk to the Clark Center.

Airports: San Francisco (SFO) and San Jose (SJC) airports are equally close to Stanford University.

Transportation from & to Airport:

By Shuttle or Taxi

MVP Taxi -- Phone 650-219-0211. Cost is $65 each way.

Yellow Cab -- Phone 650-947-1234, please call for charges.

We recommend reserving a ride.
Note: Taxis waiting at SFO, will charge double the meter for a ride to Palo Alto, resulting in about $80-$90.

By Train:
From SFO  take the BART (5 minute ride, $1.50 fee)  to the Millbrae Avenue CalTrain Station. From the Millbrae Ave station, take the CalTrain southbound to the Palo Alto Caltrain Station or California Avenue CalTrain Station (about a 40 minute ride, $4.00 fee). From the Palo Alto Caltrain Station, the Marguerite "A" line shuttle can take you to the Clark Center Building. From the California Caltrain Station, the Marguerite "C" line can take you to the Clark Center Building. The "A" and "C" lines also stops at other hotels, including the Stanford Terrace Inn.

From SJC, take the Airport Flyer (free) to the Santa Clara train station, take the CalTrain north to the California Avenue Train Station or the Palo Alto Caltrain Station (about a 30 minute ride, $4.00 fee), and continue with the Marguerite as specified above.

Transportation to Stanford:
We recommend taking the Marguerite to Stanford University if possible, as Parking is expensive and somewhat incovenient due to construction near the Clark Center.

Parking on Stanford Campus
There is a lot of construction near the James H. Clark Center building and parking is limited. In addition, parking at Stanford is by permit only, and is strictly enforced. The easiest option is for you to buy day parking with cash or credit at the Lomita Dr. kiosk, located at Lomita Drive and Campus Drive West (marked with the P inside a yellow square, coordinates D8 on map). The machine provides a receipt to place on your dash which allows visitors to park at any meter -- only needed until 4:00 pm; rate is $1.50 per hour. Another option is to buy a Visitor Parking Scratcher for $12 at the Parking & Transportation Services office (340 Bonair Siding, open weekdays 7:30am-5:00pm). (coordinates FG13 on Map).
-- With these you can park in any metered space. We recommend you park in one of the metered spaces on the first floor of one of the multi-story garages near the James Clark Center, Parking Structure 1 or Parking Structure 2;
-- For Parking Structure 1: from Campus Drive W. turn onto Roth Way (this is a left turn if are following the driving instructions above), then LEFT into the Parking Structure (coordinates E7 on map). You can then walk to the Clark Center Building.
-- For Parking Structure 2: from Campus Drive W. turn onto Via Ortega (this is a left turn if are following the driving instructions above), then RIGHT into the Parking Structure (coordinates G5 on map). You can then walk to the Clark Center Building.

You will need to allow 15 minutes to find parking and walk to the building.
